The Cresskill Police Department is staffed currently with 19 Police Officers under the command of Police Chief Frank V. Tino,Jr.

The Department is comprised of a Patrol Force, Detective Unit, Juvenile Officer, and Traffic Unit. Full-time and part-time dispatchers, handle the desk. Two officers are assigned full time to the Detective Unit, which includes duties of investigating all crimes committed within the Borough, service of warrants, effecting arrests, handling of community service sentences that are given to juvenile offenders from the court system, and supervising the D.A.R.E. Program in the school system

With the retirement of Lt.Robert Mueller, there has been a restructuring within the Cresskill Police Department. James Domville has been promoted to the rank of Patrol Sargent. He serves as the Juvenille Officer, D.A.R.E. Officer and the TAC Officer, or Terminal Officer. Sargent Domville acts as liaison to the New Jersey State Police regarding the National Crime Information Center's (NCIC) and the State Crime Information Center's (SCIC) data terminals installed in Headquarters Operations as well as within three patrol cars. Security is paramount in safeguarding data dissemination to police officers in their daily efforts to keep the Borough secure.

Patrolman Stephen Lillis has been promoted to Detective and has been assigned to the Detective Bureau. Detective Lillis continues to be responsible for the Uniform Crime Reporting System of the FBI and the NJ State Police.

Edward Wrixon has been promoted to Lieutenant, heading the Patrol Function and assisting Detective Lillis in the Detetive Bureau.

Lieutenant William Macchio is in charge of Administrative Functions of the Police Department. Lieutenant Macchio serves as an Internal Affairs Officer and assists Sargent Domville with the D.A.R.E. Program. He also works as the liaison to the Bergen County Proseutor’s Office in matters relating to Meagan’s Law within the Borough.

Police Officer Ted Cebulski has been promoted to the rank of Patrol Sargent and heads the Traffic Bureau. He has assumed the duty of Liaison for the Cresskill Auxiliary and Special Police. Joseph Lally is the Captain of the Auxiliary Police/Special Police Unit, and is a volunteer for over forty years in that capacity. The Special officers, as effected in the Cresskill Police Department, are Class I and therefore do not carry sidearms, but are fully trained in PR-24 Batons and other defensive methods.

The Special Police direct traffic, assist the regular police with crowd control at public events, and provide extra eyes and ears for the regular police in their patrol duties, on a daily basis. Fifteen members currently comprise the Cresskill Special Police Unit.

So too, fifteen School Crossing Guards are trained and supervised by the police department, under the direction of Sargent Cebulski and Patrolman Marino.

Norman Saunders has been promoted to the rank of Patrol Sargent and assists the Detective Bureau, as needed.

Mark Hirsch has been promoted to the rank of Patrol Sargent and is the Department’s Medical Officer and Field Training Officer.

All police officers are required to train and be certified in handling of their sidearms, and other weaponry; to which Firearms Instructors Sgt. Robert Puente, Sgt. Mark Hirsch and Patrolman Joseph Trumbetti admirably perform these duties.

The current sidearm of the Cresskill Police Department is .40 caliber Smith and Wesson Automatic, with Shotguns and support weapons contained in police vehicles and at the ready in Headquarters.

Community Policing is heavily supported by the Cresskill Police; as such, Patrolmen Coleman, Looby, and Petillo under the direction of Lt. Macchio have undertaken this task of bringing the department closer to the general public.

The Office of Emergency Management is under the direction of Police Chief Frank Tino, Jr. and Police Captain Arthur McLaughlin He is also one of the Department’s two certified Internal Affairs Officers. As Deputy Coordinator for Emergency Management, it is the Captain's duty to oversee a volunteer cadre of RACES Ham Radio Operators, OEM Volunteer Annex Coordinators, and other support personnel within the Office of Emergency Management (OEM).

The OEM maintains and operates a communications van, that is equipped with all channels for proper management in the Northern Valley area of New Jersey in handling of severe storms, disasters both natural and accidental.

While patrol vehicles are maintained by the Cresskill Department of Public Works, Patrolman Kevin Konopka acts as liaison in that function to the Supt. of the DPW. Konopka is assisted in his duties as Vehicle Maintenance Officer (VMO) by both Patrolmen Robert Wrixon and Glen Petillo.

The Department’s newest Police Officer is Jacqueline Cutro, a Police Dispatcher for five years.

The Cresskill Police Department is a full service department, and as such, takes its devotion to duty, and dedication to maintaining the quality of life we have all become accustomed to, very seriously.

Many times the resident's first contact with the Police, is through the Radio Dispatcher, to which Thomas Neary, Jeff Rogers, Joseph Bruttomesso, Cliff Cernek, Michael Addulla, Gregory Carbone, Robert Rowe, Paul Conelly and Paul Levi are happy to assist.
